Congressman Patrick Murphy Tours Paramount Facility; Praises Paramount as a Model for Small Business During Uncertain Economic Times

On Monday, August 2nd, Paramount was proud to host Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8th District) for a facility tour and press conference highlighting the Congressman’s jobs initiatives programs and to applaud Paramount’s ability in expanding its employee base despite the tumultuous economic challenges that have hit the American manufacturing sector particularly hard.

By focusing on industry innovation leadership and high tech manufacturing capabilities, Murphy called Paramount “A model for success in the 21st century – continuously adapting and reinventing itself to maintain sustainability retain and create jobs and serve as model company fostering economic growth”.

Congressman Murphy’s visit coincided with the first day of work for Georgianne Paqsualone, a newly hired injection mold press operator Paramount recruited from the Congressman’s July 13th Job Fair held at a local high school in Bristol, PA.

Since January, manufacturing jobs in Pennsylvania have grown by 9,100 employees. “Paramount is helping to lead the economy recovery and bring back good paying jobs back to Bucks County,” Murphy said.

Is Social Media Beneficial for the Rapid Manufacturing and Rapid Prototyping Industry?

How many times a day might you be asked if you have a Facebook, Twitter account or Linked In profile? Could you keep count the number of times you hear "Follow me on Facebook/Twitter" when listening to the radio, reading online columns or watching cable TV news programs? What are the odds that YOU have one (or more!) of these overwhelmingly popular social media sites?

Traditional methods of marketing and advertising (print and TV ads, cold calling, trade shows and email blasts) are becoming increasingly supplemented with corporate Facebook, Twitter and Linked In profiles as the power of social media and social networking sites becomes apparent.

Given the technical nature of our industry, as well the often sensitive details of projects that Rapid Manufacturing and Rapid Prototyping businesses encounter, what do you think the hits/misses would be of social media marketing/networking for our industry? What social media sites have been effective for your online campaigning?

Paramount Receives $2.6M DoD SBIR Phase II Award

A diligent campaign by Paramount’s R&D team for procuring a Phase II SBIR award from the U.S. Department of Defense and sponsored by the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) has proven successful. Paramount’s recent $2.6 million award centers on the development and implementation of high temperature SLS technology and materials in the fabrication of non-structural aerospace components for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program.

*SBIR awards allow small businesses to collaborate with one of 12 federal agencies on cost effective technological R&D projects.

Paramount Webinar Deemed a "Success" on CLS Technology

On June 25, Paramount hosted its' first webinar program on the pioneering Direct Digital Manufacturing (DDM) design and fabrication process "Conformal Lattice Structures (CLS™)", offering an online informational session explaining the technical benefits of CLS, and its innovative methods for part design optimization.

This proprietary laser sintering/additive manufacturing tool - developed in collaboration with the Georgia Tech Research Center - generated a welcome buzz after its' initial introduction at SME’s RAPID 2009 conference and exhibition. Paramount was eager to further educate our aerospace and defense industry clients on this ground breaking additive manufacturing design tool that is sure to benefit the direct digital manufacturing of parts without the cost, lead-time and technical restrictions of traditional tooling and part fabrication. CLS' initial applications would benefit light weight UAS (unmanned air systems) where strength to weight ratios are design critical.

Were you a part of this exciting session? How do you see CLS helping you in your applications?
