SAMPE Midwest Chapter and Wright State University are sponsoring a workshop on Direct Part Manufacturing on March 29-30 at Wright State in Fairborn, OH. The goals of the workshop are to educate the technical community on the topic, to discuss areas requiring new and/or additional research, and to discuss how to move DPM from rapid prototyping to rapid manufacturing. Three technical tracks will be offered, including electronics, metals, and polymers. Wright State will offer a demonstration of their Micro Air Vehicle laboratory, which employs DPM to fabricate parts for their aircraft. In addition, exhibitors will be on hand to discuss the latest equipment, materials, and software offerings related to DPM. Finally, Leslie Perkins, the Air Force Research Laboratory lead for Micro Air Vehicles will be the keynote speaker.
